About Me

Art, watercolour painting, watercolor art

Hello

Thanks for visiting my site! Here’s a little about why I do what I do:

Jane Austen Fabric and leggings

Jane Austen fabric available from my Spoonflower shop soon and leggings from my Contrado shop.

During my childhood I doodled so much that I drove my teachers crazy, so there were even fairies on my Maths books! Though my career path didn’t start with art, during a period of injury (and enforced rest) I began reassessing my life choices and creating art as a way of therapy. What was a therapy then became a way of life. My current life of wall to wall creating has been incredibly healing and a constant journey of possibilities and discoveries.

When looking for a particular fabric, I realised how limited the high street fabric stores are and I began designing fabric and wallpaper for Spoonflower primarily so I could have a particular cat fabric for my own use. The next thing I knew, Colette Patterns had made a top with it and featured it on their blog! That was kind of encouraging to me…and after realising that people wanted to buy my designs, I began to create more.

As a result of posting on social media, I found that I was contacted by clients who said that they admired my fabrics on Spoonflower, but said they didn’t sew or have time to sew. The answer was to branch out into product design with a view to making my art available and inclusive to all. As a result, I  opened print on demand shops where I now sell ready made clothing, accessories, home decor, art prints and gifts. Details of these are on my shops page http://www.magentarose.co.uk/my-shops/

Magenta Rose in SOUTHAMPTON, Hampshire, UK on Houzz

Living in Hampshire on the South coast of England,  I feel fortunate as I love this part of the country, with it’s mild temperatures, easy access to the beautiful New Forest and gorgeous sandy beaches.  I’m mostly to be found painting in my home studio, where the coffee is usually on.

Commissions often taken for events or original art, if desired.  I’m happy to work with Interior Designers, Wedding Planners , Boutiques and dressmakers alike and find it so very rewarding when my clients send me photographs of their project. Making my clients happy makes me happy!

Feel free to tag me in your finished projects at Instagram @magentarosedesigns and contact me to discuss possibilities at magentarose@cobdenstudios.co.uk
